“Omdat het jeukt om het te doen, om het vooral niet te laten:
componeren met kleur, eenvoud, streken, lijnen. Ogenschijnlijk toevallig.”
Na 43 jaar besluit Klaas Jacob het vuurtje wat altijd al in hem brandt de vrije ruimte te geven. Hij maakt schilderijen waarvan de maakdatum de titels vormen. Als een dagboek. Tijdens het schilderen lukt het hem om los te komen van het nadenken. Met op de achtergrond muziek als Satie, Philip Glass, Steve Reich... maar vaker nog werkt hij in stilte. De ‘onwetenschap’ fascineert hem meer dan het exacte denken. De schilderijen ontstaan dan ook intuïtief, zonder het in woorden te willen vatten.

After 43 years, Klaas Jacob decides to give space to the fire that has always burned within him. His paintings are titled after the day they were created. Like pages in a diary. He works fully disengaged from his thoughts, with music from artists like Satie, Philip Glass and Steve Reich playing in the background... But more often he works in silence. Klaas Jacob is more fascinated by intuition than he is by exact thinking. Thus, the paintings emerge from impressions. They do not look for other ways in which they can be articulated.
